James is a licensed psychotherapist, holding a Masters in counseling from Southwestern College and a Masters in developmental neuroscience from the University of Cambridge. James has trained in humanistic (person-centered) psychotherapy, relationship counseling, depth (Jungian) psychology, and trauma work. He also draws from somatic (body-based) and cognitive behavioral techniques. However, far more important than any particular modality or technique is what arises in the present moment interaction with each person. James works intuitively and without a set agenda, attuning to each client and facilitating the unfolding of a healing process based in acceptance and compassion. His basic intention is for every client to feel more comfortable inside their own skin. James has a special passion for relationship counseling, and can work bilingually in English and Spanish.
